Ray Karesky, Ph.D.
Psychology and counseling
Dr. Karesky has provided counseling and psychological services to adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including businesses, hospitals, schools, correctional facilities and in private practice. He has worked with diverse populations such as firefighters, veterans, medical personnel, troubled adolescents and their parents, as well as individuals from a wide range of work, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Psychology in sports
Over the past 27 years, Dr. Karesky has served as psychologist and Director of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for six professional baseball teams (see below). In this capacity, Dr. Karesky addressed the personal issues of players, staff and their families. He also addressed the performance issues of players. He provided training and consultation to baseball operations, including GMs and their staff, and player development staff and coaches at all levels. In addition, he was EAP Director for Major League Umpires.
Training , Consulting, and Coaching
As President of Merex Corporation, a consulting and training company, Ray Karesky developed, delivered and administered training programs for client organizations (see below). Programs for line employees included reading and basic math, learning and thinking skills, communication skills, on-the-job-training skills, assertiveness, dealing with change, and teamwork. Programs for managers and supervisors included leadership and management skills, coaching and mentoring, communication skills, evaluation and feedback, and dealing with difficult employees. In addition, Dr. Karesky provided consultation for executive level management, human resources and training departments, and business operations. Merex trained over 10,000 employees in the US and Canada.
